Hand Painted Rooster Quilted Wall Hanging

Hand Painted Rooster Quilted Wall HangingI’ve never been a collector of Roosters like a lot of people .
However, the other day I decided I wanted to put some
roosters in my kitchen or dinning room. It must be that crazy
quilt I have hanging over the dinning room window. Which I
really do like that crazy quilt hanging there. At any rate, I
decided to paint some roosters. They are all done with
Inktense pencils and I know I could have been
a little more creative with the design of the wall hanging.
But I haveso many things I want to make that I’m afraid I won’t
be able to do them all. I found the Le Rooster bucket at the thrift
store today for $3.00 and thought it might be a good thing to stash
some wall hanging in it if nothing else. Besides it has a rooster on it.
Guess I’ve caught the rooster bug. When I think of all the things I’ve
had with roosters ( like dishes ) I wonder why I never keep any of them.
Oh well, they look good hanging next to the crazy quilt. What will I make
next. Maybe I’ll take the day off tomorrow. Thrift store shopping might
be a nice change for Eric and I.

Coloring Book Quilt

I Made this quilt a year or so ago. It started out as a Coloring Book Quilt.
I traced the coloring book pages onto white blocks and was going to color
them with crayons. But it just wasn’t bright enough for me. I found the
Intense pencils and bought them. Wow, they were very bright. I really can’t
believe I did this. I enjoyed doing it, but can’t make myself do it again.
I made this for my granddaughter in Seattle. It is a one of a kind project
for sure.

Crazy Quilt with Machine Embroidery

Crazy Quilt with Machine Embroidery

Crazy Quilt with Machine Embroidery

This is my newest crazy quilt that I am working on now.
This is fun becauseI am quilting each block as I embroidery it.
Also adding some images that Ihad printed out on fabric years ago
and they have been in my scrap bag.I decided to see how they would
look. So far I have found one of my son Eric, and one of he and I .
I added quilting to the images too. Actually turned out good.
The images are in the bottom row in the middle. I also have a
large embroidery hoop now that is nice. I found it on Amazon for
$15.00 which is really nice sincethey cost about $32.95 on ebay.
I was happy to find it.So I embroidery one or two designs in each block
and it helps to learn the embroidery machine and practice the designs
and at the same time make a crazy quilt.  Next I need to learn how
to digitize my own designs. Ha, That will take a while since I don’t want
to spend the $249.00 to add the program to my EQ7 program.
Sure would like too ,maybe later.

Yellow Rose FSL Bowl

Yellow Rose FSL Bowl

Yellow Rose Free Standing Lace Bowl

This was a free pattern and here is the link to it.
I found it on a lady’s blog, but now I can’t find her blog.
She found it on Secrets of .com which I really do like that site.
I’ve had never found any free designs on there before. She said there was a lot of them, but they were well hidden. At any rate this one is a good one to download. You have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to find it.
Also the directions say to make 5 of the side panels, but I had to go back I never really thought I would want to make a free standing lace bowl however now that I have I will make more. This was a fun project even tho it was time consuming. I did it on my old brother pe 150 embroidery machine. It will only do a 4 x 4 hoop, so I thought this bowl would be smaller than it is. I’m very happy with it . It is so cute and I just  happened to have everything that I needed here to make it. Years ago I bought a roll of water soluble stabilizer and it’s just been laying  around here ever since. The nice thing about doing FSL is that you don’t need fabric. You embroider right on the stabilizer. For this I used 2 layers of it. Then you just dip it in water for a few minutes and it disappears leaving you with the lace. I had done a few Christmas ornaments with it when I first got it . I really wasn’t all that impressed at the time. Now I just love it. I can’t wait to do more  and do another one side you need 6. The pattern is actually from a site in Africa. They say you can use this as a candy bowl, but I would make sure it is prewrapped candy so it won’t melt on the bowl.

Brother PE 150

This is my Embroidery Machine. It’s not new by a long shot, but it only cost
$100.00. I’ve alway wanted a embroidery machine, but they are so expensive
and I can’t afford the thousands of dollars that they cost. On top of that it is very expensive to buy all the thread and stablizers that you have to have. So one day I saw this machine sitting behind the counter at the thrift store and my heart skipped a beat. They wanted $175.00 for it and I still couldn’t afford it. Besides it wasn’t something that I had to have. Sure enough the next time I went in there I talked to the manager and explained to him that the machine took a usb card which it didn’t have and it cost  over $100.00 even used on ebay.  He said I could have the machine for $100.00 . Ok , I couldn’t wait to buy it. I got it home and found out the plastic cover for the bobbin was missing.

Then I called Brother here in town to order the bobbin cover. The woman that answered the phone really did rake me over the coals when I told her I bought it at the thrift store for $100.00. She said I would never learn to use it unless I took lessons and she had lessons starting the next week . Her lessons were $300.00. She then said she would be glad to take my machine in trade and sell me a new one. How stupid did she think I am? Pretty stupid I would say. She finally made me mad as I told her that I didn’t think I would have any trouble learning as long as I had internet access and YouTube video’s showing me how. She really did upset me and I just put the machine away. I had
other things to do anyway. However, I thought about it the other day and ordered the plastic cover for the bobbin holder from the internet. $5.99 was the cost for that. I had bought the USB software from Walmart right after I bought the machine. So I was ready to go.

I then found a place to order my designs. I got these for 10 Sun Bonnet Sue designed for $1.00 and downloaded them. They are a redwork design. I thought they might be an easy way to get started. I make quilts from time to time and I have a grand daughter that I owe a quilt to . At any rate my machine works just like a brand new machine and I love it. The thrift store said that the woman that brought it in said she just couldn’t learn to use it and never did. Poor lady, probably talked to the woman at the Brothers Store.
